It seems like I haven't posted in so long, and I know this one is way over due.
The end of February I was able to take a 9 day trip back home. It was kind of a "spur of the moment" decision and I only told a few people I was coming. Nick and I weren't able to come home for thanksgiving or Christmas, and with his schedule we didn't know when the next opportunity would come for me to visit. Aside from college, I haven't really been away from home, and I definitely have never lived across the country before. It's hard living somewhere so new, especially without family around. I have experienced my fair share of "homesickness" since I have been here in Virginia, so a trip to Washington State was just what I needed. Nine days seems like a lot of time on a calendar, but my time with family went by way too fast.
In my 9 day trip I was able to:
- Surprise my sister, she had no idea I was coming
- Spend time with my mom shopping, eating out with rachael, shopping and getting spoiled at rachael's work, getting pedicures, visiting my grammy and poppy together and having movie nights
- Get my hair done after 6 months. shhhh
- See Shane at his swimming lessons, play baseball with my dad, and sit on a horse for the first time
- Spend time with my dad eating great food, working off the food at the gym :), catching up and having great family time with Grandma in Gig Harbor and Auntie Denise in Ellensburg
- Make wine glass charms and have girl time with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law
- See Nick's family for his grandma's birthday at The Rock
- Have a sleepover with Laura, including home cooked fajitas, fro-yo, TV night, Black Diamond Bakery Breakfast, photography, laughing, catching up, and sharing military life stories
I was so excited to be back home after being away in Virginia for over 5 months, so leaving was really difficult. Nine days really isn't enough time. I had limited time with family and didn't make it around to see everybody I wanted to visit. At the end of my visit home I was excited to get back to Virginia to see Nick and Lucy but it was so hard to say good-bye to everybody again.
